Why maintenance matters for commercial systems

A rooftop array on a warehouse, factory or vineyard is exposed to weather, dust, bird activity and years of daily thermal cycling. Over time that can quietly chip away at output if nobody's watching.

For a business, every drop in generation is power you're buying back from the grid at retail rates. It lets you compare performance over time, spot an underperforming string or inverter, and flag issues remotely before someone has to climb onto the roof. For sites running AI-driven energy arbitrage, monitoring also shows how the battery is timing its charging and exporting against your tariff.

A proper maintenance visit is more than a quick look. It's a structured check of the panels, wiring, inverters, mounting and switchboard, carried out by accredited people who know what they're looking at.

How often should it be serviced?

Service frequency depends on your site. A dusty industrial estate, a coastal location or a rooftop under trees will need attention more often than a clean, exposed roof. The size and value of the system also factors in.

As a general rule, larger commercial systems benefit from scheduled inspections rather than waiting for something to go wrong. Combining ongoing remote monitoring with periodic on-site visits gives you the best of both: early warning between visits and a hands-on check when it counts.

Getting the most from your system

Maintenance and monitoring work best when they're paired. Data tells you where to look, and a physical inspection confirms and fixes it. Together they keep your generation steady and your electricity bills lower over the life of the system.
